Landscape Committee Presentation

The Landscape Committee, comprising Diana Cutler, Unit #25, Penny Englert, Unit #34, and Deanna Knox, reviewed the Wildflower II grounds and suggested placement of plantings. They also took photographs of existing installations to demonstrate possible placement of landscape elements. Click on each of the thumbnail pictures below to see the details of their presentation. Here are their notes, photos and sketches:

The photograph above represents a nice application for entry. The maple tree at right fits the taller space at the outer edge of building. Firewood is behind and protected.

The grouping at the left also "softens" the sharp drop of the roof line. Again, a couple of different plant materials could be used and rotated. We would also suggest the use of some rocks (see sketch below.)

Some condos are putting additional wood at the left. It's not ideal visually, nor protected from snow and rain. But if some are willing to make a change, the grouping of shrubs could be moved further left to accomodate this.

The photo above is a good example of softening and edge of the building. Juniper was used here, but we could come up with a few different options to rotate.

By contrast the presentation shown in the photo above is relatively bare ... not as appealing.

This photograph shows transformers as they now exist at the rear of the units. These can be surrounded with shrubs to help hide them from view from the golf course side.

This photo shows the botom edge of the deck, at back. This could use shrubs also. Flowering ground cover would add cover. See sketch below.

Some areas by roads, as shown above are more open. Additional privacy would come from adding aspen trees and, again, some rocks for scale and grouping.

Whenever roocks are used, they should be partially buried, as shown in the example above.
