Secretary's Comments

- by Ruth Jenkins

The Board Meeting minutes in the right-hand column gives you the most complete update of the status of the Association, but here are a couple of highlights that I would like to emphasize:

Last month we reported that there continued to be leaks, even after new roofs had been installed. At that time we thought the source of the leakage was through the decorative lava rock on the chimneys. We had unresolved concerns over how we would handle these leaks. At the board meeting, the representative from McMurray & Sons presented his belief that the sources of the leakage were

  1. old cracked caulking around the chimney pipes and collars at the top of the chimneys, and
  2. cracked and missing grout between the lava rocks
McMurray & Sons agreed to inspect and repair these potential sources of leakage. We are hopeful that this will solve the problem. If not, then we will proceed to investigate other, more costly, solutions to the problem.

As more and more owners elect to include storage shed additions to their units, the Board would like to remind everyone that SROA requires that work be done by licensed contractors who are on the SROA approved list. A copy of this list is available from the SROA Community Development Department.
The SROA website lists the person from whom you can request the list.
