Secretary's Comments
- by Ruth Jenkins
As usual, Deanna's Board Meeting minutes and manager's report will give you a good idea of the state of our Association's affairs.
There are a couple of items where I'd like to provide just a little more detail than is reported in the mintues.
The minutes discuss money set aside for "extra parking". The rest of this story is that your board is investigating the possibility that when we overlay the asphalt in our parking spaces next fiscal year, we may be able to deepen some of the shallower parking spaces. Our hope is that this might reduce the number of auto/fence interactions that occur each year - which, in turn, would reduce our fence repair costs.
The firewood that we store near our units presents several problems that Deanna would like to ask your help in eliminating.
- Firewood should not be stacked more than three feet high, because it can topple and fall, potentially hurting someone nearby.
- Deanna asks that owners instruct their property managers or firewood suppliers to maintain firewood supplies less than three feet high.
- When new firewood is delivered, it should be stacked on the bottom, with old firewood placed on top of the newer wood. Old firewood that stays forever on the bottom of a pile decomposes slowly, becoming a home for various insects and rodents.
- Please help us reduce our pest elimination costs by instructing your property manager or wood supplier to rotate your firewood.
- Keep wood in moderate amounts. Large amounts of firewood contribute to fire hazard.
- Consider installing a wood holder, such as the one Ed Vignoul uses: view 1, view 2, view 3. If you would like to have a similar one made for your condo, please contact Deanna Knox.
