Manager's Corner

-from Mel Nunn
I think that it is important for Associations to have both immediate and projected visions of their organization.  These visions may be of the buildings, grounds, organizational structure such as the board of directors and  management agency, communications and community.  It is interesting to talk with the individual owners and get their immediate vision of Wildflower II; however, it is difficult to get a long range (two, three, or five-year) vision.  I look at visions as dreams or desires that are achievable.

I would like to work with the Wildflower II owners via regular or e-mail to develop a long range (five-year ) vision of Wildflower II, a mission statement and goals and objectives to achieve owner's vision.

First, I would like to obtain the present vision of Wildflower II from as many owners as possible.  I will summarize these into a present vision statement for the owners to review.

Then, I would like to obtain a vision of Wildflower II that the owners would like to see five years from now.  I will summarize these into a future vision statement for the owners to review.

From these two visions, I will work with the participating owners to develop two or three mission statements for Wildflower II.  These mission statements will provide an overall direction and become the basis for owner's goals, objectives and action plans.

Next, I will work with the participating owners to develop goal statements.  Goals will be statements of purpose and direction.  A goal being a condition or situation that owners desire.  These statements will be general in nature and broad in scope.  These goals will provide us a framework for defining objectives.

Finally, I will work with the participating owners to develop objectives.  These objectives will be measurable statements of actions to be performed by a given date in order to support the achievement of a goal.  These objectives can address problems owners would like to see reduced or eliminated.  They can also be routine, involving ongoing activities.  These objectives must be carefully considered.  Each objective requires a commitment of scarce resources such as time, money, equipment, or space.  Consequently, it is important to direct efforts to areas that will yield the greatest return for the Wildflower II owners.

It is important to go through this process and not attempt to start by identifying objectives.

If the owners are interested, we can get started immediately.  Send me your present vision of Wildflower II.  Please try to limit it to less than two hundred words.  All information will become anonymous and not attributed to any specific owner.  Send your information to mnunn@cmc.net or
