Winter is Still Here!

Sunriver has had the most snowfall of any area in Central Oregon so far this year. We have had at least 30 inches and it is snowing today, February 13, 2000.

We had to remove the snow from all sunken and flat roofs in January. We also inspected every unit for which we had a key for leaks and we have now repaired those leaks. Our snow removal expenses have been quite high. Owners are encouraged to make sure that management has a key so that we can inspect and make emergency repairs. Our snowplow contractor could not keep up with the snow. They did their best; however, their equipment failures and lack of a Bob Cat would not handle the job. A new snowplow contractor has been brought aboard with the proper equipment, primarily a Bob Cat, which will place the snow where we want it and remove the ice.

We have, as of this writing, about 25 inches of snow in the open areas and more is predicted. The days have been warm, around 39 degrees F and the night/morning temperatures around 28 degrees F. You cannot ask for better skiing. It is fantastic and there are no crowds. The Mt Bachelor homepage has a sky cam that shows current conditions at the base of Pine Martin lift. Check it out! For the truly addicted, there is a website that maintains an archive of these photos called RSN Resort Cam.

The new stairs on Phase III units are finished; they look great and they are much safer than before. We have a five-year warranty on the workmanship. The brick and wood material is good for our grandchildren's lifetime.

The Association Board of Directors met on January 7, 2000, and the minutes will be published upon approval by the Board.

Overall, it is a beautiful winter and the homes look like a Christmas postcard in the snow. We all expect a wonderful 2000 and we hope the owners will have an enjoyable year.
