Your board met Thursday, July 12, in Eugene, Oregon. Ed Vignoul was our host. I'll post the minutes of the meeting in next month's newsletter, after Deanna has had time to prepare them, and the board has reviewed them.
Meantime, Deanna submitted a Management report to the board that discusses our current projects. I'll make that the subject of this month's left-hand column; but first a couple of extra news items that the board would like to pass on to the ownership:
- We will be soliciting prospective board members through a mailing to all owners. If you would be interested in serving, please look for the candidate form in the mail, fill it out and return it to Deanna. Board membership is a way that you can contribute your good ideas to the Association. The Board meets three or four times a year; this year we met once by phone conference as well. It isn't hard when everybody contributes.
- We would like to remind you that the wooden light boxes on the porches (and in some condo entries) are designed for 40 watt maximum light bulbs. This is a relatively dim incandescent light, so some owners are tempted to use a higher wattage bulb to increase the light. However, doing this poses a fire hazard. The higher wattage bulbs can cause the wooden boxes to catch on fire. On the other hand, the new energy-efficient, low-wattage fluorescent bulbs fit nicely into these boxes. Their wattage is within the 40-watt limit, in addition producing more light than their incandescent counterparts. Please consider using these when you replace bulbs in your wooden light fixtures.
- Improperly stacked firewood is a liability to owners, the Association and to any Rental Agents. Firewood that is stacked too high, or that is stacked atop a slope can fall down (or be too easily knocked down), potentially hitting a passerby, a child or a guest. Please be sure that your firewood delivery service limits their deliveries to an amount that is stacked safely near your condo.
- Please be sure that payment of the special assessment for the roofs arrives by July 31, 2001, so we can pay for our roofs.
And finally, here are pictures of our new roofs for your enjoyment:
