Wildflower Association News

Manager's Corner

-from Mel Nunn

I will be delighted to contribute to the newsletter.

As president of the River Meadows Home Owners Association I felt comfortable in writing about any and all issues. In fact I wrote the River Meadows Newsletter in total with the support of my wife, Bobette.

I encouraged change and involvement within the community in order to make it a better environment and to increase the return on their investment. I'm a strong believer in open communications and the newsletter is an excellent tool.

I have now been hired by your board of directors to manage the daily affairs of the association and my first duty is to ensure efficient and cost effective operations that meets the approval of the directors.

It is my intent to work very closely with the directors and offer my assistance and consultation. I'm just as dedicated to Wildflower II as I was to River Meadows and I look forward to being a part of its prosperity as your manager.

July 1999

As you know by now our board selected Mel Nunn and Deanna Knox of Elite Management Services to handle our Association management. I will rearrange our home page to add their addresses to it.

The letter that we all received from Steve Peters, Chair of our board, also mentions that Mel is the past president of the River Meadows Home Owners Association. When I included River Meadows with other associations in the page that compares Association Dues, I thought this was another association within Sunriver. Actually it is a new development. They have a professionally-done web page including an informative quarterly newletter for their owners. Follow the link above to judge for yourself.

I wrote Mel an e-mail asking a couple of questions. I received a friendly, informative response. He agreed to let me include words from one of his messages to me on this newsletter, which I have done in the Manager's Corner to the left. I hope that next month our newsletter will include even more information from our manager on his progress in dealing with issues that concern us as owners.

As time goes on, perhaps a change to a quarterly Newletter will be more appropriate. Such a communication can review issues of interest to us; web-page maintenance will also be a more sustainable level of effort.

As you know, our Annual Association meeting is to be held Saturday, October 2nd, this year. There will be one open position on the board. I understand that Ray Cook, Wildflower #31 and Rod Englert, Wildflower 34, are acting as a nominating committee. If you are interested in serving on our board, please contact them. If there are items you would like to add to the agenda, be sure to contact Mel Nunn.

Other news: The July 1999 issue of the Sunriver Scene features a two-page photo essay on the new Meadows Golf Course, redesigned by Oregon golf architect, John Fought. Included are pictures of each hole with a description based on the Fought's analysis of the hole. Our Wildflower properties, sited near the 13th hole, are uniquely positioned to benefit from this extensive redesign.

Lastly, I continue to post our Association archives to the web. Over the course of this coming month I hope give you links to former years' Association meeting minutes and former years' annual budgets, all in Adobe Acrobat format. Some of this is pretty dry reading; the tax code might even be more exciting. On the other hand, if any of us wants to to find what events lead to a current condition, having a central repository that is electronically searchable will allow us to locate references to a topic much more easily.
